Smell (decreasing): sweet, spicy clove, woody, dry, with phenolic, cinnamon and all spice nuances
For most people, this is strongly reminiscent of cloves, which is unsurprising as it comprises about 90% of this oil, although it is also present in a variety of other natural materials.
Uses: Eugenol is now limited in perfumery, as it is known to cause allergies, so it must be mentioned on perfume ingredient lists to alert them. Nevertheless, Eugenol remains a popular ingredient in fine fragrance and air care.
